SCOTT DUBOIS - chitarra

Praised by The New York Times as a guitarist who “has begun to make waves” and a musician who has “exploratory yet melodic sensibilities, serious compositional ambitions, and cohesive looseness against complex subtleties,” guitarist Scott DuBois has spent the last fourteen years performing internationally at jazz clubs and festivals.  Scott moved from the Chicago area to New York City in 1996 to be involved in the center of jazz and improvised music.  During this time he has performed with musicians such as David Liebman, Chris Potter, and Tony Malaby while also obtaining his Masters of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music.  In 2002, Scott performed his original compositions at Carnegie Hall.   He was selected as a semi-finalist in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in 2005.  Scott has received critical acclaim from such prestigious publications as The New York Times, Jazz Times, All About Jazz, and Cadence Magazine as well as many other publications in The United States and Europe for his individual style of playing and composing.

The Scott DuBois Quintet began in 2000, performing Scott's original compositions. In 2002, Scott DuBois recorded his debut CD Monsoon for the Soul Note jazz record label with saxophonist David Liebman.  The same group went into the studio to record their second CD in June of 2005 which is due for release in late 2006.

Scott DuBois currently resides in New York City and can be heard regularly at such legendary jazz clubs as the 55 Bar as well as at numerous jazz festivals and clubs internationally.
