Davide Shorty è un cantautore, rapper e producer di Palermo capace di far convivere la sua inconfondibile voce soul con sonorità innovative e melodie contaminate da jazz e rap. Dopo varie esperienze nella scena hip hop siciliana nel 2010 si trasferisce a Londra per intraprendere un nuovo percorso musicale e nel 2012 fonda la band Retrospective For Love, con la quale si fa conoscere nel Regno Unito. Nel 2016, dopo essersi posizionato 3° alla nona edizione del talent show X Factor (Dicembre 2015), il cantante siciliano firma per Macro Beats, una delle più importanti etichette indipendenti italiane che pubblica il suo primo album ufficiale "Straniero", lavoro che lo porta ad esibirsi sui palchi di tutta Italia parallelamente alle prestigiose collaborazioni con artisti del calibro di Robert Glasper, Jordan Rakei e Mr Jukes (Bombay Bicycle Club). Nel 2018 pubblica insieme ai Funk Shui Project l’album "Terapia di Gruppo", che viene apprezzato molto da pubblico e critica tanto da portare il progetto ad esibirsi in più di 40 date in tutta Italia incluse i prestigiosi opening internazionali a Chinese Man e Daniel Caesar (grammy award 2019). La fortunata collaborazione tra Davide e i Funk Shui Project continua nel 2019 quando esce per Totally Imported l’album “La Soluzione” che conferma la sinergia artistica tra il cantante e il collettivo torinese. Al disco segue la pubblicazione del reboot dello stesso: "La Soluzione Reboot" con all'interno l'inedito "Carillon" feat. Roy Paci. Sempre nel 2019 collabora con Daniele Silvestri nel brano “Tempi modesti", singolo di lancio dell’album “La terra sotto i piedi" dello stesso Silvestri, mentre lo scorso 10 luglio è uscito "CANTI ANCORA?!", singolo che vede la collaborazione con il suo ex giudice e amico Elio. Nel 2021, si aggiudica il secondo posto tra le nuove proposte di Sanremo Giovani con il brano “Regina” grazie a cui riceve anche i premi Dalla (assegnato dalla sala stampa), Jannacci (Nuovo IMAIE) e Lunezia (per il miglior testo). La canzone è stata inserita in “fusion a metà”, pubblicato il 5 Marzo: sette brani, in digitale, che anticipano “fusion.”, il disco fuori il 30 Aprile (Totally Imported/The Orchard) anche su supporto fisico. Davide Shorty lo porterà in tour durante l’estate 2021 accompagnato dalla Straniero Band una delle formazioni più apprezzate della nuova scena funk jazz NuSoul italiana.
Davide Shorty is a singer, author and producer capable to create a particular music where his unmistakable soul voice lives together with melodies contaminated of jazz and rap. After several years of experience in the Sicilian hip hop scene, he decided to move to London in 2010 where he started a new musical adventure. In 2012 he founded the Retrospective For Love band with which he earned some fame in the UK. In 2016 he ranked in the third position in the X Factor contest. After that he signed a contract with Macro Beats, one of the most important Italian independent label and published his first record “Straniero”. This release allowed him on the most important stages and festivals in Italy along with a lot prestigious collaborations with artists such as Robert Glasper, Jorda Rake and Mr. Jukes (Bomaby Bicycle Club). In 2018 he released the album “Terapia di gruppo” with the Funk Shui Project which was greatly appreciated and allowed them to participate in several Italian and international festivals (they opened the concert for Chinese Man and Daniel Caesar). The acclaimed collaboration between Davide and the Funk Shui Project continues in 2019 when the record “La Soluzione” was released (Totally Imported records). The project confirms the artistic synergy of the Sicilian singer with the Turin ensamble. A reboot of the record is published some months later (La Soluzione Reboot) that contains the new song “Carillon” which features Roy Paci. In 2019 Davide collaborates with Daniele Silvestri in the song “Tempi modesti”, a promotional single that anticipates the release of the Silvetri’s album “La terra sotto i piedi”. In July 2020 he released also a single with his long term friend Elio called “canti ancora?!”. In 2021 he positioned in the second place in the Sanremo Festival (young generation section) with the song “Regina” with which he also won the Dalla prize (indicated by the press), the Jannacci Prize (Nuovo IMAIE) and the Lunezia prize (best lyrics). The song was included in the record “fusion a metà” published on 5th March, seven new songs released only on the digital platforms which anticipated the release of the record “Fusion” (Totally Imported/The Orchard). Davide Shorty will promote this new record on a long summer tour in 2021 along with the Straniero Band, one of the most appreciated band in the new funk, jazz, nusoul Italian scene.
