Starebaby è il risultato di un vecchio sogno di Dan Weiss di riunire alcuni dei più affermati musicisti della scena jazz mondiale per suonare musica che combini il jazz con la potenza dell'heavy metal e della nuova musica elettronica. In perfetta continuità con le sue due precedenti uscite acclamate dalla critica - "Fourteen", che è stata nominata una delle migliori uscite del 2014 dal New York Times, e "Sixteen: Drummers Suite", - Starebaby è un lavoro decisamente originale che è in gran parte senza precedenti, riflettendo il potere della convinzione che proviene da una sorgente unica e piena di vita.
Weiss è uno dei batteristi più richiesti del panorama jazzistico attuale e la sua grande versatilità gli ha permesso di collaborare con diversi grandi artisti quali Rudresh Mahanthappa, Chris Potter, John Zorn, Jen Shyu e molti altri.
La musica di Starebaby, mette perfettamente in rilievo i contrasti e le contraddizioni della nostra società con flussi e riflussi sonori che prima salgono a ondate tonanti di presagi rovinosi per poi stemperare in riflessioni silenziose, trovando un spazio profondo in cui l'aggressione brutale incontra la vulnerabilità spettrale.

Starebaby is the result of an old Dan Weiss’ idea to give birth to a special ensemble with some of the greatest modern musicians in order to combine the Jazz mood with the heavy metal power and with the electronic music atmospheres. This is why Starebaby is definitely a great and never heard project, which mirrors the eclectic personalities, and the unbelievable technical capabilities of the players involved.
Weiss is one of the most important contemporary drummer and his great versatility allowed him to cooperate with great artists such as Rudresh Mahanthappa, Chris Potter, John Zorn, Jen Shyu and much more.
The Starebaby music is a perfect translation of the different dynamics of the modern society thanks to the great capacity of combining music atmospheres and move across the most different genres.
