RENATO D'AIELLO - sax tenore

Renato D’Aiello, dopo anni trascorsi da autodidatta, studia il sax con Antonio Andolfi, e poi con Sal Nistico e Steve Grossman.
Nel 1986, comincia la sua carriera musicale con la big band di Giovanni Tommaso, per un programma televisivo.
Nel 1987 riceve una borsa di studio dalla Berklee School di Boston.

Nel 1991 intraprende un tour internazionale insieme a Tony Scott e negli anni seguenti si reca in Giappone al fianco del trio di Yoshida Masahiro.

Nel 1996 e ’97 suona in giro per l’Europa con Art Farmer e Rachel Gould.

Renato D’Aiello attualmente risiede a Londra, dove collabora con numerosi musicisti (Keith Copeland, Andy Farber, Gene Calderazzo, Phil Lee, Nick Weldon, Matt Skelton, e tanti altri).
Ha suonato in numerosi festival tra cui: Appleby, Swanage, Weymouth, Cheltenam, Hawick.

Nel 2000 D’Aiello ha registrato come “sideman” con Damon Brown e come leader il cd “Like Someone in Love”.
Nel 2001 ha registrato un nuovo cd per la Spotlite Records, “Introducing” con Gary Husband (piano), Phil Lee (chitarra), Mark Bassey (trombone), Nicola Muresu (contrabbasso), e Sebaastian de Krom (batteria).

 

In 1979 began to study the saxophone with virtuoso sax player Antonio Andolfi, then with Sal Nistico and Steve Grossman.He started his professional career playing with Giovanni Tommaso big band for a tv program in 1986/87.
In 1987 he received a full tuition scolarship from Berklee college of Boston.
International tours followed in 1991 with Tony Scott and the
following year Renato toured Japan with Yoshida Masahiro trio.
In 1993 and 1995 he toured Japan again.
Tours of Europe with Art Farmer and Rachel Gould in 1996/97.
His composition credits include music for an opera entitled "Seven Red Doors"
and several co-productions for IRMA records as sax player/producer.
1999 became resident in UK.


He has played with a number of world class musicians in his career, including:

He has played major venues such as:

The Vortex, Barbican foyer, National Theatre foyer
Midland: Bonnington Theatre ( Nottingham), Y Theatre (Leicester),

The North: Darlington Art Centre, Band on the wall (Manchester), Hull jazz club,
Huddersfield Jazz club, Wakefield Jazz club, Hawick Jazz club, Links Hotel Montrose (Scotland).

South and West: Brighton jazz club, The Albert Bristol, Southampton jazz club,
Sherborne, Weymouth, Lewes,Pizza Express Maidstone,
East: Southend Jazz club, The Fleece ( Boxford), Peterborough Jazz club.


Since may 2002 he has been playing in Paris with Patrice Galas trio at :

Le Petit Opportun, Melody Blues, Le Caveau de la Huchette.
